FAQ For clients
What services do you offer?
I am able to provide routine consultations, vaccinations, treatments and medical advice, as well as palliative care and euthanasia. Please note that limited diagnostics can be provided at this time. I would encourage you to maintain a close relationship with your general practice for the majority of your pet's needs.
Regarding stray animals - please note I do not have any facilities to board stray pets or wildlife at this time but I am more than happy to check microchips, administer first aid and signpost you to a suitable facility.
i have an emergency What do i do?
As we provide an on-request ambulatory service, we are unable to provide your pet with emergency and critical care.
Phone lines are not under continued surveillance, and there may be a delay before you are called back.
Calls are screened by the vet to ensure that what we offer is the safest option for your pet, and if necessary, we reserve the right to direct you to a facility that will better cater to your pet's needs in adherence with the code of veterinary professional conduct.
If you have an emergency, please contact your general practice. Out of hours please contact VSA Henderson 09 849 2121. They are located at 1/133 Central Park Drive, Henderson, Auckland
How can I book a service?
Please contact us using the contact form , or call 020 477 5885 to discuss your needs. Please note that the phone number and email booking form is not under continuous surveillance as I still work part time, however I will respond as soon as I can (usually within 24 hours).
How long is my appointment?
The appointment durations are variable, depending on your pet's needs and discussion points and there is no 'set' time slot and no hurry. Your consultation fee covers the first hour, with an additional charge per extra hour if required. With that in mind, occasionally could be subject to delay, if someone else or their pet in need of a little extra support. This will be communicated with you as soon as possible.
What is your approach with behaviour?
I am patient, calm and confident with nervous or aggressive pets. If you have any concerns about how your pet may react to an unfamiliar person in their home, we can discuss how best to approach this. That being said, I am not a certified behaviorist, so cannot prescribe you comprehensive training advice, and would recommend you contact such services for those specific needs.
Please note: It is my duty of care to advocate for everyone's safety in our appointments. In rare cases, I may request we use aids such as muzzles or prescribe sedatives when I foresee risk of injury. I do not make these judgement calls lightly and kindly ask that you respect this. Despite your home being a place of familiarity, I am a stranger to your pet. They may still react in a negative way to my presence and handling, especially if this incites discomfort, such as injection of medications or examining painful areas. Thank you.
